I studied what was called “advertising art” at Louisiana College. Then I was an illustrator in the US Air Force in Omaha. And then, another degree, from Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles.
I worked in advertising in New York, Boston, and Raleigh. From art director, to creative director, I ended up running my own advertising and design studio (with my copywriter wife) as partner, creative director, graphic designer, and mailroom boy.
My advertising and design background, as well as my interest in architecture and interior design, have influenced my creative expression, whether it be painting or photography.
And what about the subjects I choose? Some are clearly nostalgic, stemming from my ‘60s dime store days. (My dad was a dime store manager where I worked as a kid). Or growing up watching Howdy Doody and I Love Lucy. Some are things you may not expect to see on a canvas or in a photo. A little quirky.
